Wesleyan Work Study:

APPLICATION

Welcome to Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater! Thanks for cruising over to our website. We’re fortunate to be one of the few off-campus Wesleyan work-study locations, and over the past 15 years or so we’ve hired scores of highly qualified and motivated Wesleyan Students. We can’t hire all who apply, but we’d like to talk about how your needs, interests and schedule might fit with the Playhouse’s requirements.

Please download and complete one of the application forms above. We need it back ASAP. The sooner the information is in our hands, the better chance we have of figuring out whether a work-study arrangement might be possible. If the info on your application indicates that we might have a match, we’ll schedule interviews with the appropriate staff member. Feel free to follow-up your app with a phone call. Even if you don’t have your final schedule, please return your application. It helps to get the process rolling and to let us know if you are interested in working here.

We hope that a number of last year’s work-study students will return to the Playhouse this semester. They have first priority regarding scheduling, and as soon as those commitments are firmed up, we’ll see what other hours and positions we have available for new work-study students.

Our work-study positions fall into several categories:

  1. Assisting in our office (data entry, bookkeeping, phoning, graphics, etc.;
  2. Working with kids living in low-income neighborhoods in our Neighborhood Troupes theater groups;
  3. Organizing our costume shop and props;
  4. Maintaining our building (painting, small handy-person jobs, outdoor work, but not weekly cleaning) -- a great job for a handy Wesleyan student who wants a complete change of pace -- and
  5. “Shotgun” -- riding along on our afterschool buses to be sure the kids are safe and well-behaved More details on jobs are on the attached pages.

Wesleyan students have always been the mainstay of the Playhouse, beginning with several Wes students who founded this organization way back in 1975. We hope you’ll consider working with us. And if working here is not possible, you might want to consider the dozens of volunteer opportunities available through out the year.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Jeffery Allen
Producing Artistic Director

Matt Pugliese
