Accolades + Support

Recognized as one of the premier youth theaters in Connecticut, Oddfellows Playhouse has received the Award of Excellence from the New England Theater Conference in recognition of its outstanding contributions to youth theater and education. The Middlesex County NAACP gave the Playhouse its Community Service Award in recognition of its years of commitment to the young people of the county, particularly those whose growth and development are challenged by poverty.

Oddfellows Playhouse receives wide-reaching and generous support from our students' parents, from the community at large, from corporate gifts, and from private, state, and federal grants.

"Oddfellows Playhouse is more than simply a fond memory for me. So much of what I experienced at Oddfellows Playhouse I still utilize to this day with my own film, tv and stage projects: From how to breath properly and project my voice to the very last row in a large auditorium—to casting talent, writing and even meditation. I am very aware of how fortunate I am to have been a part of Oddfellows Playhouse and I remain grateful for, if nothing else, the encouragement it afforded me to pursue exactly what I want in life.
-David Giardina, OP Alum, Director, Writer, Filmmaker

"It is important that our community celebrates the success of an organization like Oddfellows Playhouse. Their presence in our community makes this a place people want to live. Oddfellows provides a fun, healthy environment for our young people. They learn more than simply how to act—they learn how to live."
-Larry McHugh, President, Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce

"Oh, lord—it's such a big part of my life. I first understood how amazing Oddfellows Playhouse was when I dropped out of my college theatre program because I realized I was paying out-of-state tuition to do the same scenes and exercises I did at OP for free. And I had done them when I was 11."
-Keith Bearden, OP Alum, Director, Filmmaker

"I congratulate the Oddfellows Playhouse on its 35th birthday. The organization has been a stalwart partner in the Middletown region and throughout the state in providing children and young adults a terrific educational experience in the arts and culture. Participants in the Playhouse's productions and classes acquire skills and personal growth through the arts that shapes them into better leaders and citizens. We all look forward to the next 35 years."
