Oddfellows Playhouse's Neighborhood-based Troupes provide access to high-quality performing arts experiences to young people living in Public Housing in Middletown and Portland. These programs are offered free of charge to kids living at or adjacent to Maplewood Terrace or Traverse Square Neighborhoods.
Troupes meet weekly through out the school year.
The current Troupe Programs are:
Mondays: Maplewood Terrace Middle Troupe for ages 9 - 11
Tuesdays: Maplewood Terrace Senior Troupe for ages 12 - 17
Wednesdays: Maplewood Terrace Junior Troupe for ages 6 - 8
Thursdays: Traverse Square Dance Troupe for ages 6 - 15
Fridays: Traverse Square Arts and Crafts Troupe
Although the Troupes themselves are only open to kids from that specific neighborhood, Troupe members who demonstrate consistent attendance and interest are invited to join other Playhouse tuition-based programs and productions.
Oddfellows Playhouse's Neighborhood Troupes are made possible thanks to a Community Engagement Grant from the City of Middletown, as well as donations from generous individuals.
